Second Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Global Mission Now Live

The second Pokémon Sun and Moon Global Mission is here (and easier)!

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Global Mission

The second Global Mission in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon is now live, and once again tasks players from all around the world to work together in order to accomplish a specific goal. Seeing as how the previous Global Mission was not completed – with trainers only catching roughly 16.5 million Pokémon of the 100 million Pokémon goal – GameFreak has made things a little easier on players this time around.

Beginning on December 27, 2016, and lasting until January 9, 2017, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon players are challenged to either capture or defeat a collective total one million Pokémon by using Island Scan – a special feature that allows trainers to search for rare Pokémon that would not normally appear in the wild. Using the Island Scan feature requires trainers to use 100 points, which in turn are earned by scanning QR codes. Players can only scan one QR code every two hours (and can bank a maximum of 10), however, so make sure not to use either feature recklessly!

Not only does the second Global Mission present an easier challenge, but it also offers a better reward. Should trainers from around the world manage to meet their collective goal, all participants will be rewarded with 2017 Festival Coins. 217 Festival Coins will be awarded if the goal is not met. Players will also receive double the amount of Festival Coins if they register their game to a Pokémon Global Link account. The event has already started, so what are you waiting for? Get out there and start scanning!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
